St. Stephen Chapel

Although it looks small from the outside, the St. Stephen Chapel seats up to 100 people.  St. Stephen Chapel is fully-equipped with everything that a group might need for Mass and Adoration as well as Bibles, Rosaries, and Stations of the Cross booklets.

The history of St. Stephen’s Chapel at Covecrest begins in November, 1882.  The current church building was first known as Mount Pleasant Methodist Church and served the farming community of Pine Mountain, located in the northeastern section of Rabun County.  At the time when the present building was first occupied in 1882 for church services, there were fifty-six members and a very active Sunday School.

In 1983, after serving the Pine Mountain community for over one hundred years, the church was moved to its current location and became the Covecrest Chapel.  Since that time, the chapel has been the heartbeat of all Covecrest ministry.

In March of 2002, Life Teen purchased the camp and through the generosity of a Life Teen benefactor, the chapel was restored and dedicated to St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr.  Under the authority of Archbishop John Donohue, Life Teen was given the blessing to house the most Blessed Sacrament in this Chapel.

LIFE TEEN is committed to preserving the amazing history of this sacred chapel and to carrying on the blessing of everything that happened within these four walls to glorify God - over 100 years of proclaiming, preaching and studying the Word of God, of baptizing new Christians into God’s family, of uniting couples in matrimony, and of hours and hours of quiet time spent in prayer.  Added to all these blessings is the precious gift of celebrating holy Mass.
