Life Teen Internship at Covecrest
What is it?
The Life Teen Internship Program was created for young adults who are passionate about loving and serving Jesus Christ. It is an opportunity to serve as missionaries through service and evangelization. It also serves as internship, teaching practical skills and providing valuable experience in all aspects of ministry. Hands on experience can be tailored to specific gifts and skills such as marketing, teaching, construction, and youth ministry.
The ultimate goal of the program is to help form the lives and hearts of young Catholics, preparing them to serve as missionaries wherever God calls them, whether it be to Africa, corporate America, or somewhere in between.
CommunityThe saying that no man is an island holds true to the Christian life. The community at Covecrest shares a common vision, prays and discerns together and strives to do all things for the glory of God. Each member lives this out by embracing their unique role and by building trust through vulnerability, affirmation, and encouragement. Within this community, interns are supported in an environment of stability and love where they can further discover and develop their gifts and talents.
Prayer
A structured schedule of personal and communal prayer will anchor an intern's life in Christ. Interns will explore the riches of the Catholic treasury of prayers including Mass, the Rosary, praise and worship, Liturgy of the Hours, scripture study, journaling, and Adoration. In developing a more personal relationship with Christ, interns will develop the listening skills of inspiration, prophecy, meditation, discernment, and ultimately contemplation.
Formation
Formation is integral to all areas of personal and spiritual growth. This internship incorporates spiritual formation with formation of the mind, emotion, and will. Formation of the spirit will come from things like intercessory prayer and engaging in the gifts of the spirit. Formation of the mind and intellect will be both scriptural and intellectual. The program forms minds in scripture and church teaching with tools such as the Jeff Cavin's Bible Timeline, various bible studies and Theology of the Body. Ministry and mission formation will be available through Life Teen Training Conferences.
Spiritual Guidance/Direction
The spiritual life is a journey and can often be confusing and difficult to navigate by oneself. The program provides a safe haven and people to journey with. Each intern will be given a spiritual mentor. Members of the community will also be available to journey with and pray with interns. Spiritual guidance or direction helps one grow in accountability and consistency in his or her prayer life and relationship with God.
Ministry/Outreach
Ministry and mission opportunities abound for interns who live and work at a summer camp and retreat center. Interns will learn how to turn all aspects of their daily life into a mission or ministry opportunity. Specific opportunities include being the retreat team for retreats throughout the year, going on a foreign mission to Central America, and serving as the evangelization team for Life Teen summer camps. In addition to ministry opportunities, interns will be able to work alongside a staff member in the field of their choice. The skills gained from hands-on ministry experience will be valuable in any field. Public speaking, teaching, organization, logistical coordination, and leadership are just a few skills that will be developed.
