Meet the Staff

Benzinger Family

Chris and Michelle Benzinger, Camp Directors

Chris, Michelle, and their children Noah, Luke, Sam, and Lily moved to Covecrest in March 2005 after three years of overseas missions.  Chris focuses on the overall operation of the camp while Michelle concentrates on spiritual programming and development.  Noah, Luke and Sam, specialists in camp exploration and demolition, are great big brothers to Lily who was born in February 2009.

 

Ball Family

Jason and Melissa Ball, Directors of Operations and Development

Jason and Melissa moved to Covecrest from Marietta, GA in August 2005.  They have four beautiful children, Madison, Caroline, Austin and a baby on the way.  Jason oversees facilities operations, building and maintenance, and camp development while Melissa shares her gifts of hospitality and creative design.

 

Opits Family

Bradley and Megan Opitz, Assistant Director of Operations and Hospitality Coordinator

Bradley and Megan got married in October 2009 and moved to Covecrest shortly after. Bradley assists in building and maintenance and camp development while Megan concentrates on welcoming guests to Covecrest while running the kitchen.

Molly McCracken

Molly McCracken, Marketing and Guest Relations

Molly moved to Covecrest in May 2009 from Lafayette, LA after graduating from the University of Louisiana with a Bachelor in Business Administration. She focuses on scheduling, guest accommodations, finances and camp logistics.

David VanSant (not pictured), Summer Camps

David moved to Covecrest in January 2007 from Woodstock, GA.  He focuses on summer camp planning and promotion.


It's All About Community

 “They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread, and to the prayers” (Acts 2:42-47).

God has moved mightily in bringing families and singles to Covecrest to serve Life Teen as a community.  We are committed to a faith-filled life of prayer, service and hospitality.  All people are welcome to come and experience God and His amazing love. Qualities of our community life include:

  • Dynamic Orthodoxy Spirituality– Fully in-line with the Catholic Church and open to the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in our lives
  • Daily Rhythm of Prayer making use of the gifts of the Church including Mass, Adoration, Liturgy of the Hours, Rosary, Seasonal Novenas
  • Intercession for Life Teen, Family and the nations.  “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” Mark 11:17
  • Worship as a lifestyle  
  • Inclusive - All guests are invited to join us in community prayer
  • Building God’s family – God is building his family of priests, religious, families and singles to live and work together for His kingdom.  We encourage young adults, families, priests, and religious to come and experience Covecrest for a week, a month or even a year. More than an escape to the mountains, Covecrest will provide many opportunities to experience God personally.

Morning Prayer – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 8:00 AM in the Chapel

Weekday Mass – Wednesday, 9:00 AM, St. Helena Catholic Church in Clayton

Midday Prayer – Monday – Friday, 12:30 PM – Angelus, LIFE CENTER deck

Evening Prayer – Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 5:15 – Scripture study, Mike’s Place

Intercession – Monday, 6:30 – 8:00 PM in the Chapel

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – Monday, 10 AM – 5 PM in the Chapel
